MARY’S TESTIMONY:

I will continue to share my ideas and stay in touch from time to time. I’m elated that you’re interested in my input; I don’t mind sharing at all.

You, Ed Howard is the founder, CEO, director, creator and the teacher of WOSPFM; only you can decide when to go forward.

It’s somewhat scary to share ideas and not knowing if you are going to hear from the
Individual/s again. Particularly if it occurred before!

Sometimes, or I should say “most of the time we have the inclination to be aware of who we can trust.” I will read your story as I’m not that familiar with your projects other than the comments you’ve shared on Facebook.

The first time I shared information with you I was so afraid to read your response! You’re a fighter for the good of “NNS” as it shows in your replays to me. Speaking Positive comments made me feel better and encouraged me to engage in projects that I once enjoyed before my daughter transitioned.

“For all I know you may not use any of the ideas;” and “the suggestions could have been the worst thing you’ve ever read!” Maybe, just maybe making no sense at all or anything close to being grammatically intelligible.

Albeit your positive thoughts in living “No Negative Speak” gave me another meaning instead of dread or worse, “no responses at all!”

I apologize for my lengthy responses, however, you let me know that “I still got it,” and it makes me feel proud. We all know our worth but it doesn’t matter if “we” are the only ones who are aware.

FRANCES MILLER ROGERS

SPOTLIGHT:  FRANCES MILLER ROGERS

Circa 1969, Social Dynamics, Inc. (SDI) of Berkeley, was a premier consulting company, focusing on education and minority owned business growth.  After struggling to find a place in government jobs, the opportunity to work at this black-owned, progressive company was a sweet relief.  There I found two brothers, Ernest G. and Ed Howard, running the helm.  They were supported by a multi-cultural staff of professionals with educational degrees in a plethora of fields, like I had never seen or even imagined.  In fact, I had never heard of a “doctor”, who was not a medical doctor.  Being in that situation challenged me – with my Oakland Technical High School diploma — to learn more and do more with my life.

Ed Howard and his brother demanded the best!  If you worked for SDI, your life and lifestyle had to meet and always maintain a level of dignity and a sense of proper decorum.  Even after SDI closed, I stayed connected, following brother Ernest to BART where I worked as his secretary for 13 years. Why had I become so enamorate with this family?  Because they provided a role model for me that I had never experienced – they were compassionate and committed and always demonstrated a love for the community – particularly the West Oakland community.

I am writing this to let you know that I am a by-product of our beloved West Oakland.  No I never lived in West Oakland, but the Howards lit my path to success.  SDI was a long time ago, but between that first day as a clerk-typist at SDI until now – as a retired adjunct college instructor and City Clerk of the City of Newark, California the road has been bright.  I can’t turn my back on the brothers and their community that poured so much into my life.  Please join me in supporting Ed and WOS regularly.  Will you pledge with me to give money to this great cause at least four times a year?  Regular contributions will help to keep this movement alive and thriving. The amount is up to you.  I encourage you to send your donation today.  https://gofund.me/4ea2809d

We have a great opportunity to make a difference in the future of our people.  There are hundreds of thousands who can benefit from our working together to help them to become by-products of the great West Oakland community.

Expect the best,

Frances Miller Rogers

WHAT COULD BE BETTER THAN PRODUCING A “POSITIVE FEELING WITH EACH OTHER FILM?  “NO NEGATIVE SPEAK” PART 4 OF 4

WEST OAKLAND STORIES FILM PREMIERE AT McCLYMONDS HIGH SCHOOL

MARCH 2015.  “OAKLAND IS NOT BAD”

Now you hear so much positive things about Black Oakland then you ever have. We the Black Elders of the of this Movement have worked very hard at creating this Positive Movement.

See photos of West Oakland Black Pioneers fondly reminiscing at the West Oakland Stories (WOS) FILM PREMIERE at McCLYMONDS High School.

It is up to us to show the world who we are. Get involved and share this message.

This film is a positive image that you do not see in today’s media depiction of Black Oakland or any other U.S. urban city.  Join me in taking a step in creating a New Positive Feeling Movement About Black People in Oakland, California.

When you see, hear, and feel Black Oakland Pioneers in this film you will naturally begin to understand who we are.  This will awaken you especially the young generations and they will feel the positive power of the film and what Pioneer Poet, Carol Westbrook Curtis, is feeling and expresses at the end of the film.  She said “I know who I am now”.  Black Oakland you have forgotten who you are.

LAST OF THE LIVING BLACK OAKLAND PIONEERS:

There are people who are part of the Slave System in Oakland that don’t want you to see this film because it will wake you up.  This is why I produced this film so that we can begin to start a new Positive Feeling Movement in Black Oakland.

The West Oakland Stories film is a collection of Black Pioneers who lived in West Oakland and Oakland in the 40s, 50s, and 60s talking in a down-to-earth conversation about how special it was to grow up in West Oakland during that time. Most of us did not realize it at that time but now we know how different, unique, and special we were.

We placed West Oakland and Oakland on the map in our time across this country and the world. No one should forget that. We must honor the stories and images of the Black Pioneers who lived this experience because we will not be here much longer.

This film is not asking to be approved by some of the Slave System appointed leaders, community organization leaders, religious leaders, or the politician.  This film is approved by the Oakland Black Pioneers and their approval is coming right out of their spirits and mouths as shown in the WOS film.

This is the prototype film that will spread the movement across this country, and it started in Oakland its rightful place of Black leadership.

Much Respect

SHARING TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS OF WOS FILM HISTORY: PART 3 OF 4

TACTICS USED BY EX-CITY COUNCILWOMAN LYNETTE McELHANEY TO BLACKBALL THE WEST OAKLAND STORIES POSITIVE FEELING MOVEMENT ORGANIZATION’S FILM

SHARING TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS OF WOS FILM HISTORY: PART 3 OF 4

Tactics used by Ex-City Councilwomen Lynette Gibson McElhaney to blackball the West Oakland Stories (WOS) film used white people who lived in West Oakland to invite me to their meetings at the 7th Street Café on 7th Street, Prescott School’s 150th year anniversary and with EI-LI at De Fremery Park Club building to show WOS film clips, and after I participated in the discussions, they would claim technical difficulties and would not show the film or show it improperly. Ms. Cook, Mrs. Lynette McElhaney’s key staff person, attended all these meetings.

I was offered money for the film by Ms. Cheryl Fabio who represented Mrs. McElhaney and witch I refused and a short time later Ms. Fabio produced a film about West Oakland’s history financed by the City of Oakland to counter my film West Oakland Stories 1940’s 50’s and 60’s history.

Mrs. McElhaney arranged a meeting at Rev. Bob Jackson’s church “Acts Full Gospel Church” between “OUR TV” owner’s, Mr. Leonard Stephens and Mr. Andre AlPorter and myself to convince me that they owned the WOS film footage I produced. This happened after I had presented evidence to Mrs. McElhaney and Ms. Cook in their office at city hall that they were operating as a business without a legitimate license.  Mrs. McElhaney still represented/supported them in a court of law against me and they lost the case.

Mr. Leonard Stephens, and Rev. Bob Jackson had a business partnership set up to buy Mindseed Media Studio in East Oakland using my WOS film clips as bait to entice investors to invest in their projects.  Mr. Alporter mistakenly emailed me the list of all the potential investors and I let the investors know about them trying to steal the WOS film from me and that killed that deal.

I made complaints to the Alameda County District Attorney’s office, The Secretary of State, the Oakland Police Department, and the Alameda County Recorder’s Office against Mr. Stephens and Mr. Alporter the owner of “OUR TV”.

I was letting all the Oakland elders who respected me enough to give of their time, money and stories for the WOS film so I refuse to let them down and I will do all I can to maintain  our history chronicling our rich Oakland Black history.  We don’t need any more people representing themselves as working for the benefit of the community and they are only FEEDING off the Black community.

Billy Moore, Husband to (Belva Davis the renowned Oakland/Bay Area TV personality) and they are West Oakland Elders, found me a film/computer expert, David Bellard, to work with me to re-engineer the fractured parts and pieces of the WOS film that was given to me by court order and still I have not received all of the film footage.

Need all the support we can gather for this business deal.

Take a look at our website and give me some feedback.

We have the business projects and proposals for the

PART 2 OF 4

You will understand the WEST OAKLAND STORIES FILM POSITIVE FEELING MOVEMENT FILM much better after you read the four-part (4) history https://youtu.be/ZMYVdIlYUhs

NOTIFYING THE AUTHORITES:

Attorney, Alameda County, Nancy E. O’Malley, District Attorney

Alameda County District Attorney’s Office

1225 Fallon Street, Suite 900

Oakland, CA 94612

Dear Ms. O’Malley,

October 01, 2013

I have found that Mr. Leonard Stephens owner of OUR TV station in OAKLAND is not licensed as a legitimate business registered neither in the County of Alameda nor in the State of California.

It’s unfortunate that I have to write this letter, more so, of my own in meeting con-artists in the likes of a Mr. Leonard Stephens and Mr. Andre Alporter technical assistant. Mr. Stephens presented himself as a legitimate business man, licensed to do business in the State of California and the County of Alameda, CA with his d.b.a OUR TV; 10700 MacArthur Blvd; Foothill Square #4E; Oakland, CA 94605; and Andre Alporter’s address: 9316 MacArthur Blvd #6; Oakland, CA.

Under this guise, Mr. Stephens persuaded me, in his con that his business would assist me in the development and broadcasting of a television production which I am producing, called the West Oakland Stories 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s Project (WOS). A contract was signed with Mr. Stephens as the executive of d.b.a, OUR TV (terminated by the Secretary of State of California).

There is a second party involved in this matter. It is Mr. Stephens’s video camera/editor production assistant, André Alporter, who coned me to believe that he no longer was working for OUR TV. To prove his point he removed all of his editing equipment from OUR TV facilities to his apartment and from April to August 2013, we completed the editing of West Oakland Stories Project in his apartment. Now, Mr. Stephens and Mr. Alporter are stating by email that OUR TV is the producer of the WOS and that they now own my project. Rip off.

Mr. Stephens, thus far has gotten away with his con of theft through deception.

Figuring his con to be white collar and given to lengthy and expensive litigation process, and the search for his whereabouts to serve him, he thinks he has a pretty full proof con game.

The businessmen, owners of Oakland’s “OUR TV” Station, Mr. Leonard Stephens and Mr. Andre They lost the court battle and still has not given all the tape/film footage/files up to this day. There is a Bench Warrant out for them but the police will not serve the warrant. They are a classic example of too many of our own business people’s negative attitude with our people.

Just describing the trials and tribulations that you go through producing something positive as the West Oakland Stories film, you win your case in the courts and the Slave System still does not carry out its law. It just keeps you spending your money. But you don’t let that stop you.

Sincerely,

Much Respect

Ed Howard,

Producer, Writer, Editor, Interviewer
